Uncle Julio's is just OK. Food was overpriced, I had combo fajitas (chicken and steak) there was too much oil (butter, I think), and it was too salty. The only vegetables I got were onions. Fajitas were $17 (for what)!!! My date had chicken enchiladas and they were good, but for $12 we could have gotten the same thing anywhere else. Drinks are expensive also, we each had one and an entree and the bill was $50. I am not meaning to be negative, just don't expect anything spectacular from this chain restaurant. We live in Bucktown and there are plenty of great mexican restaurants much closer (Arturo's Tacos, Lazos, etc). We were seated immediately and service was fine. Food did come very quickly which was nice. They also have a small parking lot but we took the North bus and the stop is right by the restaurant.

Uncle Julios is GREAT TexMex. I'm from Dallas originally and was so excited to see an Uncle Julio's right down the street when I moved to chicago. The chicken fajitas are always good. If you don't like charra beans, they will happily replace those with refried beans. Also, the margaritas are wonderful. I always order herradura hornitos on the rocks. Yum. If you don't like a lot of noise, though, don't go. Every location the have is like this. The patio is great in spring and summer, and is much quieter.

I eat regularly at the Lombard, IL restaurant. The people who say the Mexican food at Uncle Julio's is mediocre do not know Tex-Mex, which is different from other Mexican fare. Uncle Julio's is, by far, the best Tex-Mex in the Chicago area and is comparable to other first-rate Tex-Mex places in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. I was amazed I could get this quality of Tex-Mex in Chicago. The tortillas, bean soup, fajitas and shrimp dish are fantastic. If you are a party of 3 or 4, try the Plata Gordo, you will not be disappointed! If you really know and appreciate Tex-Mex, disregard any reviews of this restaurant that say it is average.

3 words...CALL AHEAD SEATNG!!! I love Uncle Julio's and now we can call ahead to put our name on the wait list. The fresh food, the fabulous service, what more can I ask for!!! Those margaritas are amazing!!

Al is a liar.. there are so many employees in this restaurant, there is no way they use the same restroom with the custemers!! from my experiences: great food, even better drinks and perfekt service!

I really like the atmosphere. I went there with a big group of people late one Saturday night a few weeks ago. The place was hopping and the margaritas were delish. However, they don't take reservations--not even for a party of 10--and if you show up during peak weekend hours you could end up waiting an hour! We had to turn around the last time we went.

I can not believe that there are negative reviews of this resturant. I have lived in DC as well as Fort Worth and now in Chicago. Every Uncle Julios I go to they are all great. The person who said that they were not allowed to eat at one table that was a cocktail table only appitizers and drinks are available there. Then they had to evaluate you because you were probably being an a hole and the server thought you were drunk. Do not listen to this idiot this resturant is great the best I have ever been to.

I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews I read about Uncle Julios' before my first visit last night. The food was excellent! The service was superb. There was no wait. I arrived at 6:15p.m. on a Thursday night. The prices were reasonable. The swirls were awesome. I can't wait to go back!

We went ther on a friday night and sat out front, we had a bad feeling right from the start. The server was rude and not very attentive. There were 8 of us and we go out together pretty often and we drop some serious $$$ when we go out. We tried to order food and they told us we could only order appetizers out there, so they moved us to another outside table. We were having a good time, we asked for some jalepenos, they finally arrived on about the 4th. request. I went to the bathroom and witnessed on of the workers exit the restroom without washing his hands. Later some idiot came over and said we had to be evaluated to see if we were OK to continue drinking, we told him to stick and left. THIS PLACE SUCKS>

This is the place to enjoy some really mexican food. I love mexican food because I am mexican. I would love to take Lisa there so she can enjoy some good mexican stuff. I was telling steve galka that he should also go because this is the place to eat, drink and have some little talk about pancho villa, frida kahlo and myself.
