I cant believe the good reviews about Tufano's. Tufano's dishes may be the worse I have ever tried. Italian food chain restaurants have better service and food than Tufano's. The food at Tufano's was marginal. I ordered the Veal Marsala, it was just Veal and a lot of mushrooms with no flavor. My friend ordered the Chicken Lemon, same story, a lot of angel hair pasta and overcooked chicken that did not taste like lemon. No Credit Cards? Amazing, it is 2007 ! In the winter, I would not want to take the walk from the restaurant to a nearby ATM. They do not advertise they dont accept CC. $55 for 2, entrees, 1 salad, 2 glasses of wine, would never go back.

I am sorry to say that I do not agree with all the wonderful reviews I read prior to dining at Tufano's. The service was very rushed, the atmosphere was loud and my dinner was poor. We were not finished with our calamari appetizer when our dinners were served to us. We were in and out of the restaurant in less than one hour. My "marinara" sauce tasted like tomato paste out of a can. The shrimp were large, but not very good quality. The fried calamari was good. Thank goodness for the drinks or the dinner would have been a waste. There are much better Italian restaurants in Chicago and I would never return to Tufano's.

Tufano's is probably my favorite restaurant in the city! The food is spectacular and the service is unbeatable. I have been going there ever since I was a little girl when my dad would take me there before a Blackhawks game. The owner Joey is also the nicest guy you could ever meet and makes you feel at home whether its your first time there or your 100th time there. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! If you are going on a weekend evening, try and get there early b/c there can be a long wait at times.

I went to this retaurant last winter and it was one of the best dates I've ever gone on. We sat by the window and looking out at the sparkling snow and beautiful city was quite a backdrop for what proved to be a great dining experience. I loved the food and service. My date had been there as a kid and remembered looking up over the edge of the table at a huge piece of lasgna. But what really capped off our evening was the chocolate raspberry frozen dessert. I can't wait to go back for another taste! As a matter of fact I'm taking my Mom there for her 80th Birthday.

Whether you're going to an event at the United Center, UIC, or just looking for great Italian food off the Taylor Street usual spots, Tufano's delivers in every way. Spectacular entrees at unbeliveable prices all served in a perfect setting makes it my number one locale for food anytime I visit Chicago. Get there early however, it's been there 80 years and is no longer a secret. Owner Joey is probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet!

I've been eating at Tufano's for since 1982 when a friend introduced me to this neighborhood spot. I've been going back ever since.
I can always depend on good food and great atmosphere. Joey runs a wonderful operation.
You can't go wrong by eating at this institution. They make you feel like family.

Having recently been reunited after 20 years with a childhood friend we are getting together this Saturday. I suggested Tufano's, a terrific restaurant just a few blocks from my home. She couldn't have been more thrilled. She told me that it was her father's (Joe Saele) favorite restaurant and that they used to come as a family for the tripe.

I took my sweetheart- Carol to Chicago for Valentine's weekend. I found Tufano's on the internet and thought we would give it a try. Our taxi driver had no idea where Vernon Park Place was. But I remembered the route from the internet. There were cars double park down the small street waiting for valet parking. When we arrived the place was packed. We waited for over an hour before being seated. Everything was perfect. The food was very good! Carol said it had the aroma of her grandfather's kitchen, when she was a young girl. I knew she really loved it. We both left totally stuffed and satisfied. And people were still streaming in at 9:00pm. This place is a gem. Excellent food and service.

Tufano's is an exceptionaly great restaurant with wonderful service. Also they offer valet with good looking drivers if I do say so myself, especially two that were very kind to me, you know who you are.
