All of the reviews have been very positive but really, the sound system...all that hype (yawn). There's really nothing to write home about.

The music at Sonotheque is refreshingly "chill" and the service is refreshingly "real". Sonotheque is a dream come true for people who love to relax with friends in a very cool atmosphere with fantastic music without having to worry about how they look or who they go home with. At first glance, it might seem "New Yorkesque" and slighlty pretentious but soon you will realize that the regulars are anything but.

I have to agree with Sean - Sonotheque was designed with a certain aesthetic in mind, and a very specific crowd. Additionally, the design is quite the fascination point - it's meant to be close to acoustically perfect.

I think they're finding their niche; they've only been open less than a year now, and in another few months, the crowd will be the crowd it was intended for. And it's the perfect place to chill during the week, it's the same stuff I listen to at home - but Sonotheque's system is obviously better, and so are the drinks.

After reading the review by Shelly Morgan, I started to rethink what I thought about Sonotheque. While I waited in line because they where at maximum which is actually I never feel crowded when inside, I seem to pay very little for much better then average drinks and enjoyed the non-repetitious beat from the DJ booth (which of the three times I have visited, I have enjoyed the tunes and found it a great lounge for great listening).

I realize this place is different. In a good way. The lack of attitude is a nice change of pace and while I will admit that there aren't many places to sit, I don't recall finding a seat at most of the places that I like going too.

Bottom line; go with friends, enjoy yourself. The environment, the tunes and pleasantly surprising drink prices allows you enjoy yourself. That can be tough to do.
