hahahahaha! i think it's so funny that matt F says RJs is an applebee's ripoff, when its more likely it's the other way around. it looks like someone is more focused on the prices than actual taste. in all seriousness, dont listen to him. RJs is a great place with great food that's tastier than your average hamburger joint. the vibes are pure early 70s and they have the best milkshakes in chicago. ask for the chocolate peanut butter, mmmmm. at least matt f brought up a good point in saying that the waitresses are pleasent. the restaurant is really devoted to their employees as can be seen by the menu and the walls. great hang out place with great food.

This place is amazing. Very hot and juicy burgers. The chips come with a delicious sauce. Try not to fill up on the salad bar, which is full of veggies and salads. Nice location and easy parking. This place is a GREAT CHOICE!

WONDERFUL. I am on my way to Chicago in 2 days. I have one of the original menus by Rick Rogers 1982! Gonna see the changes since then! One thing will be prices A Dreamsicle was $3.50 then! Do they still make those?

Even though this restaurant has been around since the 70s, its modern day claim to fame is its role in the M. Dylan Raskin book "Little New York Bastard." I went there with my sister out of plain curiosity and found it to be very enjoyable, though some dishes were on the pricey side of things. Overall, I'd say this is a nice place to eat although the experience is amplified greatly by first having read the book by Raskin.

I went to RJ Grunt's with a friend because he said he really enjoys the place, and I usually agree with his opinion on eateries. This was my first time there. It was Friday night. For the life of me, I can't understand why the wait was an hour long, as I soon found out that this place has terrible prices for the ammount of food you get. I had a roast beef french dip, which was passable in flavor, but $8.50 is too much for a sandwich and chips. Obviously, this place is situated in Lincoln Park so that Chads and Trixies with no concept of money can be seen there. The dining room was overcrowded, and people kept bumping into my chair. The salad bar (which I didn't get) was passable, but had more extras than veggies. The waitress was pleasant.
Overall, I can't justify the wait and price for a sub-par applebee's ripoff.

My favorite restaurant in the Chicago metropolitan area. Great burgers and it is next to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
