The Pick Me Up Cafe is a great place to gnab some vegan grub, and it sates vegetarians/meat-lovers, too. Though you won't find a steak dinner there, they do offer chicken and breakfast fare like sausage and bacon. (My boy LOVES the eggs benedict.) Most of the servers have been very upfront about how certain menu items are prepared, and if they don't know, they ask. I used to think it ran a little on the expensive side, but having lived in the city for five years, I've realized its par for Wrigleyville. They do serve beer now, and the coffee is still fabulous - regular and vegan milkshakes are TASTY. To my vegan folks, I suggest the hummus platter (I'm VERY picky about my hummus, and this stuff is good) and the new item, vegan mac'n'cheese. Despite the hipsters and scene kids, Pick Me Up is a shining light on dismal Clark Street, and shows other diners how it should be done.

Pick Me up. There are some good standouts in the drink department. The Zombie, if your stomach can handle the espresso, coffee and all can be made with soy milk like the rest of them.
The menu is another thing. I love the Vegan French toast. I've had the Moo Free Pizza which is good but runny. The scrambles though, make sure to order the potato's either on the side or well done. They're often undercooked.
Skordalia is amazing though. I've never had their hummos. This is a potato dip with garlic. Not sure if it's vegan.
But they do have vegan treets and sundaes with soy temptation ice cream. But make sure to ask without the chocolate sauce if you want it truly vegan.
Hit or miss, I still like it.

Tried this place along with my meat-loving boyfriend. I got the french toast and he got the bbq pizza. I tried a few bites of his pizza and it was excellent. My toast was also tasty. I only ate two slices of the five on the plate. Portions are big! Our waiter was friendly, and super cool with the whole punk thing going on :) Would go back again.

For the last three years I've been trying to find a vegetarian place in Chicago that served good food at good prices. I heard such great things about Pick Me Up and was forever begging my friends to come with me so I could test it out. I finally convinced them to go for a bite after a show one night.
After confimring the soup was vegan, I ordered the red pepper artichoke soup (or something along those lines) and thoroughly enjoyed it...until I bit down on something grisley after my third bite. I assumed it was a piece of artichoke that missed the food processor. It took a few minutes until I realized in horror my soup contained chunks of chicken! The waiter was more than appologetic but I had already lost my appetite. I don't know if I'll be able to give this place another chance - the rest of the menu looked great. If you do decide to dine here, beware the soup!

OH MY GOSH. Pick Me UP is the best cafe i have been to in a long while. For those who say it is expensive I dont know where your comming from because it isnt all that bad. For a HUGE platter of cheese fries and a Huge platter of Hummus. It is 12.81 its enough of a meal for two. Let Me Tell you. I love the people there and it is the best hang out for a group of Friends or that late night dash for food with your best pal. Oh do I remember those nights and miss them deeply

After driving around for hours looking for a decent place with semi-health concious food to eat in lakeview/lincoln park, I finally remembered that Pick Me Up was the best bet.
Love the no smoking section and friendly waitstaff. Combine that with a rich menu of selections that cover breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long and you have a happy meal.
The people that stream in after 1am were defintely on the younger, alternative side, this is no mainstream hangout.
Ah, the food. Excellent omlette made to order. A selection of hot teas. Had the pecan pie, but wouldnt go for it again, not too my liking.

Pick Me Up- A place to get food and coffee and whatever else your heart desires (except alcohol) late at night- This is a cafe mind you- thus a little rough around the edges, prices are good- despite what other reviewers have said; under ten bucks for a big "sammich" with all the fixings, turkey, hummus, provolone cheese, sprouts, tomato... a side of chili cheese fries, and a soda or coffee. DINER FOOD AT DINER COST- you could go to another diner and pay 2 bucks less but your food will pale in comparison. I am not that impressed with the decor- it's very "late night diner", so it works just fine condidering that Pick Me Up is a "late nite diner" Wait can be a little long, never more than 15-20 minutes- If you don't want good food, would like to pay a little less, and want to sit your lazy ass in a chair the moment you walk in the door than go to Clarks, or Michaels, or Hollywood, or Golden Nugget, or Ihop, or....(you get the idea)- than the wait wouldn't be quite as long for those of us who have tastebuds or are willing to fork out a little "hipster" money for descent food. For creative late night dining Pick Me Up rates an 8.5-
