Post Your Own 2 Fast Jack Review

We had the pleasure of seeing 2Fastjack at the Mutiny on Western Avenue January 13, 2007. I found myself immediately drawn in by their casual onstage demeanor: It is obvious they are in their comfort zone in front of a live audience. This is a band which exudes confidence and professionalism as they display musical talent rarely seen in a neighborhood bar. It would not be fair to "pigeonhole" this group into a single musical genre, as it is a collaboration which combines the influences of many styles. At various moments I found myself trying to imagine who influenced these great musicians. I heard elements of Morrison, Knopfler, Clapton, Santana, Ray Charles, Bob Marley, SRV, and on, and on, and on. The music is tight, while spontanious and free-flowing. 2Fastjack seems to enjoy pushing the envelope, with an improvisational flair which enables them to go to places where few bands dare to follow. The audience was captivated from the first note to the last encore. I will definitely go out of my way to see 2Fastjack the next time they are performing locally. These guys are genuine professionals, and I highly recommend them to anyone who truely loves music as I do.
