I've dined at the Med several times during outings with friends, and I've never had a meal there that I felt was anything better than average. The one thing they do exceptionally well is dessert. If you're dining in, try their brownie sundae--amazing. I often visit the Med's cafe next door to pick up carrot cake for take-out. It's some of the best I've had.

During sporadic trips to Hyde Park, I methodically visit Medici for the joy of dining alfresco, with typically pleasant results. Last weekend, however, I stepped into the restaurant mid-afternoon for lunch and was informed the legendary patio was closed. CLOSED. 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. The curt and unsympathetic waitstaff informed me that during "lulls" the patio is closed. Considering the regular popularity of this establishment, a "lull" might be the only time to get a seat on the patio. I inquired about the person I plainly could see occupying a spot on said patio, and was told it was the manager. Eating lunch. On the patio. Which was closed. The downstairs dining area was full, and I'd wager every one of those patrons would be eating under a canopy of trees if they’d been granted access. Had I been more familiar with where else to dine in HP, I would have summarily huffed out. Instead, I stayed and ate...the food was fine, but overshadowed with illogical acts by management and the surly expression on our waitress's face. Next time I descend to HP, I'll do a little research and find another hole to haunt. My staple food and drink supplier has gone weird and unappreciative...like a bad boyfriend. Time to move on.

It would perhaps work to the common good if Medici employees did not submit stooge reviews.

Medici is incredible, the food is delicious the prices are great for the product & the service is non bothersome & get the job done! The atmosphere is sure to put me back into a great mood! very urban very collegiate. prob not for suburbanites. The ideal restaurant!

Worst steak burrito of my life! No beans, no rice, nothing! Whatever the meat was soaked in, UGH! It was also damn near impossible to chew! Normally I like their food, but that do was REALLY bad!

Pick-up is indeed the least expensive option here, but be forewarned that sides are skimpier than for dine-in, one must explicitly request pizza condiments, all take-out meat seems to be well-done, and they really do still expect a tip at the counter.

The Med has raised it's prices considerably since the original review. Things keep getting pricier and pricier, to the point that while i used to order from them at least once a week, i only do so now about every month or two. The best thing is to order food to go rather than eat in- you can evade the poor service, sometimes rude staff, and a long wait on weekends. The spinach and goat cheese pizza is amazing though!

the service is never great. it is sometimes okay, always a little slow, and the waitstaff are often snooty/rude.

The service is okay. The manager is rude and harrasses customers about how much they tip the not so friendly waitresses. I will NEVER eat there again.
