I really like this place, a lot of good bands come through here. Some that don't play anywhere else in the city. It is a chicago staple and will stay that way for many more years. The food is good also and they just renovated the pub side bar room.

I worked at the abbey for almost a year, and I can tell you first hand that there's a lot of bad stuff going on. For starters, the man in charge of booking the talent is usually running around, coked out of his mind and looking to start fights. Not a joke. Just last week he single handedly started a fight which almost lead to his arrest because he has no communication skills. He is also known for stiffing bands at the end of shows, he did this to Redman and his people will have nothing to do with this place. This place is shady, so when you go see a show there just know that you take a risk of getting involved with certain elements. Watch out for the above 6 foot, glasses wearing menace named Duffy, if you look at him wrong he might blow a fuse and try to eject you. It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt because of the lack of professionalism this place enables. The music has gotten much weaker over the years because the man in charge of booking talent is out of control, running around with out a real clue. Any bands who think about performing here, get your money up front, no joke.

We tried having our company happy hour here. TRIED. It was the worst customer service I've experienced in a very long time. It was very disappointing. The bartenders were arrogant and inefficient. I will not go back. There are too many great pubs in this city to waste time with this one!

What happened to service at this place? We have been going here for years since our Depaul days. Within the past year we have experienced the worst service ever. The female bartender that worked this past friday basically wouldn't serve us. The only time she would notice us if there was a guy around. (not the tattoed girl, she's good)

Same with the server. She ignored us Later, when our friend's husband joined us she was all over him. She would ask him every five minutes if he was ok and once pratically sat on his lap. The girls went without drinks for long periods at a time.

It appears that this place is great for guys but not for girls. And ladies don't go with your guy, the staff would rather get a tip then make both genders that visit feel welcome.

Never again. After 11 years, never again.

Thinking of eating at the restaurant before a concert there? Think again. We waited for an hour night when the kitchen lost our ticket. They didn't even notice until we complained. After the waitress told us the ticket was lost and told us she would get us a discount, we waited another thirty minutes for our food - which was all very easy to make sandwiches that should have taken five minutes. Then the bill came, and it was all full price. We asked to see the manager, and the waitress ran interference, finally discounting our bill by about 15% - definitely not acceptable for that level of bad service. Additionally, we never heard even a courtesy apology for our inconvenience. We ended up missing the first bad that played the show because of this fiasco, even though we purposely went early to enjoy a leisurely meal. You can bet I won't be returning.

An old favorite BLOWFLY kicked ass on Saturday, but the REAL surprise was Chicago's JaGoFF. They were funky as hell & equally as nasty! (enough bass to jar something loose to put it mildly...) More filth & depravity than you can shake a stick at! Suffice it to say that the Windy City got thoroughly schooled in the FUNK over the weekend. I'm still ringing out my panties!

I love this place. Great beer and a fantastic, beautiful music venue. The bar is jovial, too.

Don't overlook the Pub in the Abbey Pub. It's not just a place to see a show. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and the service is quick. The food was pretty darn good and there's food for even the pickiest eater.
