This restaurant was an utter disappointment. I've had better food on airplanes. The calamari was really greasy and overcooked. The meat lasagna was old and reheated. Its bottom was brown, and the noodles were so over-cooked that they resembled over-cooked potatoes. It was also completely unseasoned and the meat was really dry. Maybe the restaurant has just declined over time.

I have lived in Chicago for seven years and I have recently moved away, but the one place I miss the most as far as Italian food is concerned, it is definately Lucia's. Food is amazing, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is superb. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

As other reviews have mentioned, this is essentially an authentic trattoria transplanted from the middle part of Italy right here into Bucktown. It's delicious, and you should eat here RIGHT NOW.

This is the best Italian food I have tasted in Chicago. It is truly Italian in every sense of the word.

This is the only "authentic" Italian reataurant in the Chiacgo area. It is not American-Italian or industrial Italian. The only place that I have found food of this quality is in Italy. Bravo to the owners and staff of Lucia's.

The review is kinda weird... it seems to mostly praise the food (except the gnocchi, which is very difficult to do well), but then says the food needs to improve??
Anyway, our experience was similar... the decor was decidedly lakcing anything resemebling character, and was not very full. The food, however, was simply stupendous! I admit that I prefer authentic Italian cuisine to the more common 'Americanized' version that is most everywhere in Chicago. However, all the dishes at Lucia's were MUCH more authentic than anything else I has had here in Chicago! The head chef (I think his name was Qualterro) made some mouthwatering bruchetta (again, real Italian brucetta, not the gentrified verison everyone else serves). I also had the spinach gnocchi, I thought it was simply fantastic. Perhaps the reviewer got them on a bad food (or bad reviewer day), but we have gone back a number of times, and the food has been top-rate every time! I highly recommend this place.
