I just visited King Crab Tavern on Sunday. It was the most disappointing dining experience of my life. I love seafood and was looking for a convenient option in the neighborhood. This place sucks big time. The food was not fresh, it took forever to be cooked (even though the place was empty)and was really overpriced for what you got, even if it tasted good. I had the lobster tail, which tasted like it had bee in the deep freeze for a very long time. It was completely tasteless and was served with an equally unappealing butter-like sauce. I choose the mixed veg as my side. This appeared to be a steamed assortment of carrots, green beans and onions. Who eats steamed onions with a lobster tail. All the vegetables tasted like steamed onions. Yuk. My husband ordered the shrimp linguini in a creamy garlic sauce. It was like raw garlic tossed with sour cream. It didn't settle well at all, and two days later he still stinks of garlic. Our desserts were stale, but it didn't come as surprise. It was simply a reflection on the rest of the meal.It was very disappointing. i really don't know how this place stays open, but apparently some people like this kinda thing. Red lobster is no culinary delight, but at least it's safe.

I threw up all night after eating the oysters.....never has happened from Gibson's. The service was slow, the water boy did not speak English and the food was way overpriced. I won't go back. Very disappointing.

I went to King Crab for the first time last week. The food was amazing. The service was great. The manager was also very friendly and which definitely enhanced our dining experience. The stuffed mushroom appitizers are great. We loved the clam chowder, to die for. We also orded the shrimp sampler, it is a perfect variety. Also, the turtle cheescake and chocolate mousse were great dessert choices. I cannot wait to go back.

My date and I loved the food and the service. Our server, Sara, treated us royally never rushing us at all. Everything we had from appetizers to entree to dessert and coffee was wonderful and served expertly. We plan on being regulars.

Food is good and prices reasonable. I've eaten there many times and I have to say that the new awnings on the restaurant really add some curb appeal.

I have read some excellent reviews about this restaurant and I have read some poor reviews. The atmosphere was excellent and the service was good as well. I thought it was a lively crowd and a fun place to eat. I ordered the crab leg special on Monday night and got food poisoning. My friend also ate some of my dish and got sick as well. I called the restaurant to inform them that their SPECIAL had made me sick and the manager felt absolutely no remorse. He asked me for a doctor's note as if I was in High School. He told me that I must have ate too much and that I must not be used to crab. I have been a seafood lover my entire life and have never been sick like this before. The manager was extremely rude and I will never give them my business or anyone else's business for that matter.

This is my new favorite restaurant. I'm a native of coastal Massachusetts and Maine, so I am an unabashed snob about seafood. If that tells you anything.
The atmosphere is refreshingly unpretentious. It reminded me of some of the lobster joints around Kittery and York, Maine. The small, outdoor area in the back was very beach-y. Again, not fancy...but I found it very relaxing.
Chicagoans: I have seen a few of you pondering over your crustaceans with a snarled expression. You need to roll up your sleeves, dig in and have a good time. One of the former reviewers mentioned that the plate was handed to him. Yeah, mine too...so what? You need to lighten up if you're going to eat crab n' lobstah.
I really enjoyed the king crab legs, and the lobster bisque. The time before, I had stuffed lobster. Of course, there's a little higher pricetag than you'd pay downeast, but you need to expect that in Chicago if you're going to have seafood.
Most impressive was the service. Our waiter was professional, courteous and efficient. His manner was conducive with the friendly and casual atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, it was a little like going home for a couple of hours.

The food here is vial. Both times we ate here we came home with stomach cramps and nausea. The prices are comparable with upscale fish places, but the food is poor quality. THe restaurant has a fishy aroma tinged with the scent of over-garliced bread. It even feels dirty.

I just had the worst experience at King Crab. The king crab legs were handed to me, not even put on the table, and i received about 4 legs, barely any meat on them and took about 2 hours to open them up for nothing. The service was horrible and when I complained they wouldn't even do anything about it. Bad management, arguing with a customer.

Great restaurant with great food. I've been there twice and the food was fabulous both times. The Chillean Sea Bass was absolutely fabulous.
