I love music from Texas and some Nashville country. Joe's is the only place in Chicago and even areas of the midwest that regularly books this type of music. Cross canadian Ragweed is one of my favorite bands and they love to play at Joe's. I have not had any problems there that are not found in other bars, waiting for drinks isnt any worse than it is here in small town Michigan and the price (for beer) is the same. Ticket prices for country music concerts is a steal, usually averages 10 bucks at the door. It can get very crowded depending on what band is playing. I have not eaten there yet, someday when i have the time to relax i might try it. As a live country music concert photographer I am at Joe's almost once a week.

Joe's Sports Bar is the best bar in Chicago if you...
1. Want to pay an insane cover to see the same crappy cover bands week after week.
2. Want to drink well vodka that's disguised as premium vodka.
3. Want to drink skunked bottled beer. Some of the beer on the bottom of the cooler ais over 6 months old.
4. Want to get a drink from a dirty bar that hardly passes health inspections. They never clean their soda guns. Their beer coolers don't have any drainage, so all the condensation and stagnant beer collects on the bottom. They mop the floors and bar mats maybe once a month. And forget about every drinking out of their glassware. Good luck finding one that was cleaned and sanitized properly.
5. Want to be served by an unfriendly staff who is angry not because of the customers, but because the management treats them like crap.
6. Want to support a bar who's owners have enough money to gamble every weekend, but not enough to make sure their employees checks don't bounce.
If all of those options sounds like a fun time to you, then Joe's Sports Bar is the place to be.

I have been to Joe's twice to see cover bands, and on both ocassions, the place was just WAY too crowded. They must have stuffed 800-900 people on the floor where the band was playing. It was utterly ridiculous and I plan to never go back there again. When you have that many intoxicated people on the floor at one time, it does nothing but provoke frustration and violence. Last time I was there, two fights almost broke out, and one was broken up by the bouncers. I would never recommend this bar to anyone.

Eesh...if you want to overpay for average drinks, eat bland bar food and wait a long, long time for service, this is the place for you. Not only was our table overcharged, it took 45 minutes to get rounds. I won't blame the waitress though, looked like she had every single table in our large section; terribly understaffed. Went to the bar to improve our situation, no real help there, bartenders plant themselves in one spot and don't venture far from it. Pizza tasted like cardboard with tomato sauce and they charged for refills on a little plastic party cup of soda. Lot of TV's though so at least you have something to watch while you are waiting for service or drinks.

Kind of tough to rate a place based on 4+ year old reviews!
