I'm suprised by all of the not-so-good reviews of this place. I would consider myself a foodie, and coming from LA, land of Jewish delis (second to NY of course), I would say this is the closest thing the midwest has to offer. The breakfast offerings are always good, the Ruben is tasty and the Mish-mash soup is the single largest serving soup I have ever seen! If you're really adventurous, try the boiled tongue, it's delish! (The free parking in the back is a huge plus).

I'm done with this place. The food is pretty good, so I occasionally ignore the hateful service and how overpriced it is. Today, I call for a pick-up order, get put on hold for too long. I call back, no answer. Well, like I said, the food's pretty good (not the omlettes!), so I call once more & place an order for a couple of breakfast sandwiches. I wait my 15 minutes, go to pick it up. Several to-go orders are sitting on the counter, but the man tells me they don't take orders for breakfast sandwiches over the phone. Terrible excuse. Surly service. Grossly overpriced. NOT WORTH IT!

The bagel is a horrible deli. The prices are rediculous, and their bread is stale. The owner at the Chicago location needs an attitude adjustment. In addition, the roach crawling on my table didn't make matters any better. I strongly suggest going to Manny's before considering this dump. Oh, one more thing, the restrooms could use a face lift, as the toilet seat was saturated in blood, and fecal matter.

In response to H I, the Bagel has a private, POSTED lot for the use of their customers, which the restaurant pays for. I suggest that H I take a remedial english course so he/she can understand a large sign. Also, H I can request of Intelligentia that they lease a lot to provide parking for him/her. H I is certainly not a member of that class(Intelligentia)! The BAGEL dining experience is worth the trip from Milwaukee for us. The food is great. And, H I, three bagels did not cost you $100. Your 'rules do no apply to me' attitude did. Grow up and take responsibility for your actions.

If you are going to this restaurant by car, beware! You cannot do ANY other business in the neighborhood...if you park their "customer parking."
The restaurant-parking attendant wheel-locked our car just because we dropped at the next-door Intelligentia coffee shop for less than 5 minutes, to get a coffee to go.
Three bagels cost us $100. Should we contact to the BBB?
