It was our first time in Chicago. A friend had recommended the Italian Village so we decided to try it. We walked upstairs to the Italian Village and were seated right away. Passing through the main room, we were seated at the backroom, past the restrooms and the nearby kitchen. I wondered to myself, why were we seated in the back if there were plenty of tables in the main room? So I requested that we be relocated in the main room. We were re-seated right away. I wondered to myself, why weren't we seated there to begin with? I look around to find that there were only 2 reserved tables, with plenty of other tables vacant. At that point I felt uncomfortable. A waiter was ready to take our order but they forgot to give us our menus. As we waited for our menus, I noticed 2 caucasian ladies being seated in the main room right before my eyes. I was convinced. We were just discriminated against. I decided that we should leave at that point. So we did. As we zoomed downed the stairs, the host asks "was something wrong?" I was a bit too angry to respond. My girlfriend responds "we were just wondering why we weren't seated in the main room to begin with?" He responded "we were just beginning to fill up that room." That was a little hard to believe. To make a long story short, we didn't have the chance to try it. Not sure about the other reviews feeling like family...may be if you look like them.

BLAND, TASTELESS, BORING. I are there yesterday evening with a party of 6 italians. The waiter was attentive but the appetizers were slow to arrive. The rest of the meals service was prompt and the table was bussed efficiently. The food was the big disappointment. 4 of the 6 meals were very bland and rather tasteless even though they were all different meals. It was as if zero seasoning was used or some ingredients were forgotten. None of us complained for the simple reason that one of the party was treating us and chose the Village so we said nothing out of respect. It was only later that the host said that her meal was very poor and that she hoped we had enjoyed ours. That's when the facts came out. Yes, teh history and the decor and the service were generally up to par, but fire the chef. My first time and my last time eating here and the rest of the party agrees. Unfortunately, this restaurant is in a good location so they will continue to disappoint many new first-timers. Oh, and as for the mens restroom opposite the bar, a smelly outhouse atmosphere. Wanted to scrub the soles of my shoes and made sure not to touch anything unnecessarily.

I love the Italian Village! Every time I have dinner at the IV I am always amazed at the incredible consistant service, fantastic food, and beautiful decor. Gerardo, the Maitre d, is amazing... and makes me feel like family. Try the specials - you can't go wrong. Service is impecable and knowledgable.

What a great Italian Restaurant . I have been dining at this place for several years since I went with my parents. Great traditional Italian food and the Wine List is the best I have ever seen. The Chicken Vesuvio and the Beef Marsala are my favorites and the caesar salad is tops ! The service is friendly and I always take my wife for our anniversaries. It is perfect for a date or for a business meeting. They have private booths.

My wife and I first ate here 25yrs. ago and were awed by the friendy and efficient service, delicious food and tremendous value. On subsequent visits to your city, we have always made a point of having dinner at the Village and have never been disappointed. Though it may have been several years since our previous visit, we are always warmly greeted and served as though we were regulars. We always recommend this restaurant to anyone we meet who may be coming to the Chicago area. Anyone wishing to enter the food service industry would do well to study their operations and service ethic. Viva Italian Village!

One of the Best Italian Restaurants in the city. They treat you like family and have the Best Wine List in the City. I like to order the Chicken Vesuvio and the Veal Marsala is flavorful. It is located right in the middle of the Loop and have great romantic booths to share with a business client or a romantic date. The Wine guy is tops and recommends a great bottle of wine everytime. I am serious folks this is the real deal

Italian Village is a great Italian restaurant with great food, and a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly, and make sure you get what you want. They are very knowlageable about what they sell. It is reasonably priced and they try to seat you as soon as possible. A Service. DEFF. WOULD RECOMMEND!

I do not only recommend, but wholeheartedly discourage you to go to Italian Village in Chicago. It is one of the most pretentious, substandard rat-holes I would not even attempt to call a restaurant. I experienced complete revulsion at the food. It was the first time in the Italian restaurant when I did not even eat a loaf of bread, since it was old and stale. My salmon was flavorless, and my boyfriend’s ravioli was cold and bland. The atmosphere was very unpleasant. I felt confined and uncomfortable, surrounded by unfriendly and oblivious staff. Needless to say, I will not come back, and urge you to avoid Italian Village at all cost. Spend your money somewhere else.
