My wife and I live one block away from Higgins and are neighborhood patrons. It has taken us awhile but we have finally convinced most of our friends to try out Higgins.
Last night, unfortunately, we took a few friends there right around closing time. The lights were off but there were still patrons in the bar so we walked in.
Immediately, I was told to "go to hell." My wife was told to "take her shirt off." We said nothing, chalked it up to the caliber of the drunk patrons and walked out. As we were helping our friends get into cabs, Dmitri, the bartender, walked out and told us to "get the hell off his sidewalk." When we questioned his legal ownership of the public sidewalk, he continued to berate us.
The bar is a dump. What makes the bar is the patrons and the staff. Unfortunately for my wife and I, the treatment that we received was disrespectful and unwarranted.
I will tell all of my local family, friends, colleagues and neighbors about my latest experience.
I hope Dmitri continues to be a prick and others notice. It's simply not worth anyone's time to go into this bar and be there when Dmitri is working. He's not worth your time or your money and neither is the bar.
