I visited this restaurant at 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. Including myself, my party consisted of four people. While the food was awesome (seriously!!!), the service was not. I do not enjoy being hovered over, grinned at and repeatedly forced to move my hands and food away from my mouth for the wait staff to pour one more drop of water in my full glass. Attentive, kind of.... annoying, very. On top of it all, the place was not full (I saw many empty tables), yet my party and I were seated at the closest possible spot to the kitchen. Oh, and I'm forgetting to mention we're a group of 25-year-olds. I don't need a wait staff that HOVERS and STARES at people while they are eating. And, just because a group of younger-looking adults goes into the restaurant does not mean we aren't going to tip or order appropriately. We were placed at the nastiest table with a waiter who smirked when we simply wanted water. Leave the breadcrumbs and my party alone, it felt like a circus.

This was our first visit to Greek Town and Greek Islands. We started with the Greek Islands Cold Plate appetizer for 2. It was a good. We ordered 2 meals to go because the cold plate and bread had filled us up. The man across from us had the grilled octupuss and we will get that next time. Well worth the money. You will not be hungry when you leave. The service was some of the best I've had in a resturant and we were treated like family. We'll be back.

On a recent vacation to Chicago, we tried this restaurant. What a dismal experience! The atmosphere was loud, chaotic, and frantic, and they were out of everything we tried to order (this was early in the evening, not near closing time). One of us finally settled on gyros, and it was not good; the meat was dried out and flavorless, like pieces of cardboard. Next trip, we'll bypass this place -- surely there's something better in Greektown.

We honeymooned in Chicago in October 2003 and we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Greek Islands! The food was incredible...every flavor, AMAZING! The restaurant is very attractive and the staff accomodating and friendly! I tell everyone that is heading to Chicago to go and eat there! I can't wait to go back myself! -A Dallasite missing Greek Islands

I've eaten at Greek Islands once in my life and I don't want it to be my last. I loved the wide array of food that was tastfully and timely brought to out table. The merlot was a perfect match, maybe a little more dry on the merlot (but that was my mistake). The saganaki ,, the gyro ,, the soup ,, the free valet parking ,, ok I'm going right now, not joking. Bye!
