i recently traveled to chicago to see the legendary buddy guy. it was friday night and ronnie baker brooks was in the audience, or rather the vip section. at the end of the evening buddy announced it was ronnie's birthday and called him up to play. ronnie began with "you better leave my little girl alone" ( a buddy guy original also covered by the great stevie ray vaugn). he followed with "take me witcha" an original brooks song and finished with "rock me baby" accompanied by shemeikia copeland on vocals and brother wayne baker brooks on guitar. for all of you that were not in the crowd at legends on january 23, you missed magic. when ronnie left the stage it was to a standing ovation and he held court for 10-15 minutes shaking hands and posing for pictures. his voice is powerful, his guitar licks give you chills and his stage presence is phenominal. ronnie's energy and passion take you to another place and when i left for evening i knew i had been in the presence of greatness---to get up for 3 songs and put the house on its feet was a tremendous feat.
NOTICE: This is NOT the OFFICIAL Ronnie Baker Brooks website. These reviews are a forum for opinions about the venue that other Centerstage Chicago users may want to know, not to order merchandise, apply for a job, etc.
