I have written an excellent review on Frontera at www.epicurista.com

How can I sum up my experience of this train wreck? One word; sucked. Not only was the wait painfully drawn out; just under three hours to seat a party of three, the service was mediocre, at best. Staff seemed more interested in hanging out. Not once were we given any type of refills. The portions were too small, especially for the price, but lacking on taste.

Bayless is overrated, and I for one, will never set foot in his dump again.

I was in Chicago for a convention and went to Frontera with two of my local friends. The Marguerita was tiny but good. I had Tacos el Carbon with Chicken, rice and refried beans, and some of the chips with guacamole. The taste was okay, but not great. The service was mediocre.

About 7 hours later, I became violently ill with diarrhea and vomiting, which lasted for several hours. I became badly dehydrated and was close to calling for a taxi to take me to the hospital for an IV. I missed my train home and had to stay an extra night at my hotel. I had to cancel all of my Monday patients since I could not get home (I'm a dentist). I am sure that since I had not eaten anything else except a light lunch much earlier that day, that the food at Frontera gave be a bad case of Salmonella or Bacillus Cereus. It took me seven days to fully recover. I'll NEVER GO BACK!

I cant really write a review of the food because we didnt even get to sit down in the restaurant. 2 plus hours and still had three tables in front of us that I noticed that were people that came in after us and werent the same 3 tables she said 35 minutes before as I peeked at the list. I guess we werent classy enough for this chi-chis looking restaurant wasted 5 hours just to get there and wait to be asked to get someones car as they thought we were valet. Rick Bayless seems like a nice guy but his restaurant service sucks. We did end up going to a little mexican taqueria that was great took 5- 10 mins for food and the flavor was awesome. I wont waste my time again. Anybody have any reviews of other place with good food that doesnt take 2 plus hours to get in. Maybe they could hand out little bags of chip and salsa while you wait or seem like I was waiting to get a ps3. lol

We went there last night with two friends from Indiana. I must say the entire experience was FANTASTIC!. The service was excellent, the guacamole was the best we had ever eaten, dessert was incredible (bittersweet chocolate cake), and our entrees were delicious, which ranged from salmon to enchiladas. Oh by the way, I drove 110 miles from a little town north of Milwaukee for this meal, and believe me, I was not disappointed one bit!

My husband & I took my daughter and friends from the Las Vegas area last year before my daughter moved as a celebration. I was very disappointed at the service. We noticed several male servers and thought it was unusual in this type of restaurant. They were very informative about the food but they did not come back to refill our order for more Margaritas as often as we wanted. We felt like we were overcrowded and the noise was unbearable. We purchased a cookbook for my husband's birthday and wanted to get it signed by Rick but he was not available. His wife was hosting that evening and cordially agreed to send it back after he signed it and within a week it was delivered. I feel the food is overpriced for the quality of the food but we love the salsa he sells retail and agree it is worth experiencing the restaurant at least one time.

We tried Frontera Grill because of the reputation and from watching shows with Mr. Rick Bayless. To be blunt we were very disapointed. While trendy, in our opinion the restaurant fell short of our expectations. Cost of the drinks were high. I don't mind a wait for dinner and an hour was not bad. However the dinner was, how should I say, a 4 out of 10. I had the Carne Asada. Done to my taste, but was small and had a lot of fat and grizzle. My wife bit into something solid in her beans. It turned out to be a small rock. When we told the waiter, he casually stated that happens sometimes, we try to remove them from the beans, and sometimes we miss some. Even the manager related that it was not uncommon to discover small rocks in the beans. They explained the farmers pick them and at times small rocks make it through the process. Lucky my wife did not break a tooth. They did comp her dinner, although it is bothersome to think this is common place. Not very thrilled with the experience at Frontera Grill, so we will not be returning. If you go, dig through the beans for small rocks.

I live in Los Angeles and comparatively find the food mediocre at best and much too expensive. Can they cram any more people into a bar area. If only the restaurant was as good as their salsas sold retail.

We have dined several times at Frontera Grill and always enjoyed our experience and food. However, our recent visit on August 27 was horrible. My husband and I both ordered a Margarita. After taking two small sips of mine, I accidently hit the water glass with the Margarita glass and the Margarita glass broke. With more than three quarters of the drink left, I thought when our waiter came and took the broken glass away, he would replace the drink. Well, he didn't. Needless to say I was unhappy about this especially at the prices they charge for a small margarita. We order the mussel appetizer since our 12 year old daughter loves mussels. When it arrived, I looked at my husband as if a mistake must have been made. There in the bowl was about six mussels. Mussels are about as inexpensive of a shellfish as you can get and the cost of the appetizer was over $9.00 and all they gave you were six! Our main courses were just ok, nothing special. We will definitely not be going back.
