We were a little concerned with all the bad reviews posted, but had already booked Hotel 71 (Solis)...our stay we wonderful. There was a mix up with our room, we had requested not to be near an elevator, so they switched it and gave us a suite at no extra charge. ALL the rooms are beautiful, and very large, spotless, and the view is magnificant. We will be back next year.

Guys!!, I'm so concern about what you wrote on this side, you better be careful about who want to go this this hotel, I booked up 3 rooms for this July 2007, and I don't want to have any of the problems you said, hope so!!

Please say that any of all these rude comments are not really true!!

TWO STRIKES AND THEY ARE OUT! My first experience at Hotel 71 incuded rude staff and a room mix up which was not taken care of properly. I decided to shake it off and try the hotel again. WHAT A MISTAKE! Not only was I lied to over the phone TWICE when I was making reservations at the hotel, but when I was checking in they tried to give us a downgrade in rooms and thought we wouldnt notice! The lady at the front desk was incredibly rude and there were requests for the room that were made days prior to our arrival and they were totally disregarded. I would NEVER recommend this Hotel to anyone! A motel 6 has better service than this one.

HORRIBLE!! The hotel staff let someone into our room who wasnt a a guest of ours. We come to our room to find that we are locked out and a stranger in our bed!!! The hotel proceeded to reprimand us and ask us to leave because we made too much noise trying to get back into our room even with the hotel staff next to us trying to help when they messed up in the first place.

Never been treated so horribly anywhere in my life.

Buniess and Pleasure trip. Wonderful Hotel, helpful staff, & Great Location. Beautiful view of the river and so close to everything. The room was large, kingsize bed, huge soft bath towels, and H2O bath products. And hotel is Pet Friendly. Would Highly Recommend, and stay again. Great Restaurant right across the street, Nick & Tonys. Had great pizza and lovely outside tables. Bakery Around the Corner (also just down the street) serves a great breakfast and also has lovely outside seating. The Millennium Park is just down the street on Michigan Ave. A must see. And please don't miss the view from the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building, 2 floors about the Hancock observatory. No charge, and a great place to go for drinks and enjoy the view. I would also like to recommend the Grand Lux Cafe, at the corner of Ontario & Michigan, above Ann Taylor. Wonderful food, great views & service, and baked to order desserts. You order you dessert when you order your meal and it is ready when you are. Highly recommend the Chocolate Molten Cake with ice cream or the dozen Chocolate chip cookies.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Everything was clean and in order. It has a nice view of Chicago river and skyline. The L is also very close.

My experiance at hotel 71 was HORRIBLE! My family rented around 9 rooms from them to stay at for the weekend of my wedding and a room for my husband and I to stay at after the ceremony. We pulled up front in a limo at around 2am in full wedding attire only to be treated like dirt in the lobby by the manager on duty. I was appalled that I had to stand there in my wedding dress with our luggage everywhere and have everyone at the front desk be incredibly rude to us and saying that we don't have a reservation. They finally took us to a room that was occupied and told us to look at the bags to see whose they were. Then they took us to another smaller-than-standard size room with stained blankets and a view of a brick wall and left us without keys. Since the bellhop "forgot" to bring them to us, even after we gave him a large tip, I had to go down myself to retrieve them. The only thing the clerk cared about was getting my credit card information even though the room was paid for. STAY AWAY from this "boutique" hotel!

This hotel fraudulently charged my debit card $70 for parking at their hotel. I have explained on 4 occasions that I did not park there or authorize this charge. They keep telling me they'll refund it, then do nothing. Now I have to go to my bank to file a claim. Otherwise, their 'swankiness' was much more in style about 10 years ago. The shower didn't drain or hold a consistent temperature. The coffee maker in the room didn't work. Overall, the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, and that includes several rat-traps in Bangkok. I can't believe they can stay in business in the loop.

I didn't care for the hotel, but Billy & Matt were great.
