El Cid....Last summer was my first in Chicago, and upon finding this resteraunt, I was so excited! The patio,AMAZING... the friendly staff...GREAT...the ginormous burrito suizos...DELICIOUS!...I ate there quite often, and took many people there as "my great little mexican place" I LOVED IT!....This past weekend, after taking a long winter hiatus from "The Cid", I went back....My oh my, how things have changed!... The staff was aloof and non attentive. The draught beer tasted mildewey and old. The quesadilla was undercooked, and the veggies inside raw!...WHAT HAPPENNED??...I can't believe it!I miss you El Cid come back to me!!!

El Cid's flourishes in the warm weather. The back patio is the perfect setting for any evening, whether just to enjoy the margaritas or sangrias, or to nosh on guacamole and chips or huge burritos. My husband and I always enjoy the food. It's a great place to go for a relatively inexpensive mexican night.

El Cid is amazing. Super nice people, delicious and cheap food. The skirt steak tacos are the best. The patio is quiet and relaxing and take out is fast and easy. We eat there once a week or more.

I used to live literally around the corner from this place and I ate there all the time. Their pico de gallo and al pastor are the best I've ever had. Since we moved, we've been constantly in search of al pastor as good as theirs, and we've never found it. As for the pico, it's hard to rave about a condiment, but it's got a special tang to it. The margaritas are great. I also love their lengua, and once we had their fajita plate and it was fantastic. My only complaint about the place is that they don't serve some of my favorites, like "tripas.' But the sopes, burritos, tacos, tortas... All top notch. Why did I ever move?

El Cid is a Mexican restaurant serving very tasty and filling traditional dishes. Being a vegetarian I can highly recommend the vegetarian burrito and the guacamole tacos and sopes. Their margaritas are large and sweet. They have sidewalk seating in the summer and a backyard pation as well. Topping it all off the folks who work at El Cid are the nicesty people around. My friend and co-conspirator show up every Thursday for our self-appointed margarita night.

El Cid #2 have eaten there several times...very fresh ingredients. Staff is friendly and accomodating. They never use well tequilla which makes such a big difference in their margaritas. Depending on your tastes, the food is sometimes a little bland but just add some salsa or pico de gallo and it's great. Warm comfortable interior; outdoor patio is huge and attractive. (can't wait for summer to return). Sometimes they have live music. Call
