I used ta live on 26th Street years ago. I went to McCormick & Whitney School. We would run to Chickies for lunch. We'd buy a beef & a gravy and make 2 Beefs! The fries were the best!

I totally remember Chickies! I attended Joseph E. Gary Elementary and back then 30+ yrs ago...we could leave the school grounds for lunch...we didn't have alot of money as kids and could only afford their bread dipped in that famous gravy! I think it was only 20 cents! What a TREAT and a fun childhood memory!

thin sliced beef that melts in your mouth, home made toppings that make regular giardenera seem like canned vegetables, the topping is made of thinly sliced peppers and celery, ive gone to other places that sell beef, but i base tham all on Chickie's, most have beef that is cut too thick, like deli sliced beef, but not Chickie's, i go there at least once a week, i passed by the other day a saw an RV from florida, i thought that was so cool but also shows how the word gets around, if youve think youve tried the best beef in chicago and have not been to chickies, your missing out, i hear they are opening another Chickies by ogden and taylor, i sure hope so, to all beef lovers around the world do not come to chicago with out stopping into Chickies, you will not regret it
