We were in town for a Cubs weekend and have walked past the Duke several times . We poked our heads in to have a quick pint , After having a pint we tried the wonderful fish and chips served with peas of course .The duke is the type of place where customers talk to each other ..No loud music here . Mike the barkeeper is quick to pull if another pint if needed . This is a hidden gem and we will be sure to go to again...

I don't want to tell everyone what a great place this is, because then everyone in Chicago will start going here. Ok I already said. I love the Duke of Perth and have been going there for years. The buffalo wings or (haggis wings) are the best in the city. The stovies are awesome as well as just about everything else on the menu. Oh well my secret is out.

Went there in 2004 and the service was bad. Went bad for New Year's and it was just as bad. Slow. Food was icy when received.

A little exspensive drinks wise, all the food is very good.

The food is good but the service is THE SLOWEST IN THE CITY! I will go there for the fish and chips but plan on at least 2 hours because it will take about 45 minutes for your food to come. That's after you wait 30 minutes for the server to take your order.

ok, here's a quick story on my 1st experience with the duke of perth, im from the south side, with endless irish/scotish pubs, my wife who is a d.s mgr. with several stores downtown and on the near north side, her car broke down near diversy and clark, and i had to pick her up,hungry and not looking forward to the north side traffic as i remembered it, we decided to stop for pizza when we saw the duke of perth, hey why not have some jameson and guiness too, so we had dinner here to kill time, and we find ourselves coming back at leaste once a month for the awsome food-service-and and great people always in the pub, if you haven't been here don't wait till your car breaks down, to discover the duke of perth, awsome time...

This is my favorite bar in the city. All the food is wonderful, even the soups. The waitstaff is really nice on the eyes, and friendly to boot. It's never too crowded and there is always a place to sit at the bar. The music is great and never played too loud. It's a bar you can venture into by yourself with a book and by the end of the night, you'll have had interesting conversations with more than one person. It's a great place to meet interesting people. And Mike is the best bartender in town...

I've only eaten the fish fry a couple of times. Not the best fish fry in Chicago, but easy to get to. Two pieces of fish, crispy beer batter coating, thick "chip" style fries and lightly cooked peas (inauthentic - real Scottish peas would be cooked to a mush :-). Reasonable value - if you don't drink anything. I'm always shocked at what a glass of hard cider costs in a Lincoln Park bar.
