My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. If your concept for great Mexican is tacos et al, look elsewhere. This is finer Hispanic food from family recipes, more hip than traditional. The service was very attentive. Dishes are prepared w/ olive oil. Excellent presentation. I had the Pollo en Chile, wonderfully complex flavors, not shy with the seasonings. Artsy decor. We left in such a good mood! The experience was only comparable to finer establishments in wealthy districts through Central America, nothing state side.

i recently visited La cocina de frida, and was very pleasant experience, they have the best mole of the entire world! a most try ! the guacamole was fresh made, with lots of cheese on top, the bomba is delicious, the carne asada too. the ambiance make you feel home, the friendly owner stops at our table to see that every thing were ok, she tellus that soon they are going to have more dishes on the menu. we'llcome back again!

Very dissapointing. My wife and I were very excited when we saw a new, upscale Mexican restaurant in Andersonville. The appetizers were awful. The ceviche was more like a shrimp cocktail and the guacamole tasted like mushed up avocado w/ no spice. I had the chicken with mole sauce, which was actually fairly good, though nothing special. My wife had the Bomba Frida, which was awful. We ate with another couple who was equally dissapointed with their meal.

I love Frida and Mexican food. I was soooooo pleasantly surprised when I stepped in La Cocina de Frida this week. The ambiance was amazing, the service was great and I will have the Bomba frida over and over again! It was a nice treat that the owner visits every table and makes you feel at home. This is my new fave place in Chicago!
