Cinner's was one of the friendliest experiences in my history of drinking. The mood is laid back, the clientele and staff are hip without adopting any trends. The decor hearkens in a time from yesteryear but is somehow familiar and timeless. Perfect for this neighborhood. Inviting to anyone who has a gullet. I am a 65 year old Chicago fireman. I have seen some of the worst bars in my time, finally this place pops up now that I am in the autumn of my life. This is the only complaint I have, I am far too old to fully enjoy this establishment. I've never been to Ohio but I believe if I were 26 years old this place would be my haunt. I would have fit in so well back then... but I was born in Cicero. I have been married for many many years, my children are grown up and have kids of their own, now all I have is my work. Sure it's my passion, and I enjoy card games. I wake up every day with a boiling in my belly, some unchecked regret, some leftover angst from my youth. I go to Cinner's and just sit there and have my beer and take it all in. I watch the patrons come in and share stories while Tony stands behind the bar serving us. I am transported from this 65 year old workaholic to this 26 year old me I never got a chance to meet. Tony stands there and tends the bar leading his drinkers like the conductor of symphonies. I just have two or three then I leave... It's not the food or the beer that does it to me, it's the whole thing, the chemistry. May all acquaintance be forgot?

For the record, let me say I hated every minute of my 14 month stint in Cincinnati. Ultra-conservative, overly-Catholic and pretty unfriendly to anyone who didn't go to grade school, high school and university in Cincinnati, the town DOES do one thing right: chili. I was thrilled when I happened upon this place Saturday night and had a great meal. The chili was every bit as good as I’d remembered and the drink menu was really original, though I stuck to my ol’ stand by, Guiness (even in the can, still goes great with Cinti Chili). The waitress (place was cozy and needed only one) was busy but friendly. I could have done without the WLW broadcast of the Red’s game, but the music that came on afterward was excellent. If Tony Plum was the adorable bartender, I wish him lots of luck with this place -- a great addition to an under-bar’d neighborhood!
