The pathetic nature of this place has nothing to do with what their landlord does or doesn't do. The food is BAD. We live in the area and walk by frequently. I can tell you that the rodent problem is REAL and it's not the Viet Nam war art that is attracting them it's the poor sanitation of this dump.

Lets hope the park district moves them out quickly when they take over the building.

Wow, I don't know what Average Joe is smoking but the locals love this place. It is what it is, a casual breakfast and lunch place, with dinner in the summer. The breakfast selections are great, and Jorge has added pre-Bear-game grilling with Brats, Burgers, Dogs...The Brats are the best I have ever had, and I tailgate all the time.

The residents and neighbors love the outdoor live jazz on summer evenings and Sundays, which brings great energy to the space. Great for a BYO lunch or dinner.

Average Joe needs to be reminded that the patio is not being maintained by the current operators of the building, NVVAM, and Jorge is going out of his way to make the space better. Were it not for Jorge, the residents would have been stuck with far worse, like a Black Orchid.

You will not find a more beloved business owner in the South Loop. This guy makes the space unique. Average Joe, please quit you bs about the cops, this is slander. The only issue is the two guys across the street who have a problem with live jazz music...what a joke, these guys should move to the suburbs.

In short – Don’t bother – we finally have better options in the area to choose from We live in the neighborhood and have tried this place numerous times and have been VERY disappointed each time. We “want” for a place like the place this place is trying to be. Like many of our friends and neighbors in the area, we’ve decided that the last time was really the last time. First and foremost, since this IS a restaurant - the food is just plain bad. The menu lacks any imagination and by and large offer bad versions of the standards. The dishes all seem hastily thrown together from “foodservice” standard pre-packaged faire. Preparation and service is inconsistent and any concept of presentation is nonexistent. Ordering at the indoor counter allows you to see just how disorganized, messy (and sometime dirty) the food prep area is. While the outdoor dining concept is nice and their location has potential, more than once during and after hours we’ve seen rodents enjoying their meal in the dumpsters that edge the outdoor space. Lately they’ve tried to compensate for the food with a half-hearted attempt at being an outdoor jazz-club – it just doesn’t work in that space. The choices are poor, the sound system bad and the cops seem to be there a lot. At this point and after many tries to reinvent their business we can only hope that new ownership brings us the restaurant we want and deserve. -joe
