Went here for lunch during the Chicago Marathon and this place rocks! Had a plate of the Carnitas and a plate of the Barbacoa. What! The meat just melted in your mouth! The service was friendly and attentive, the coffee was on point, and we left with a pork rind the size of an elephant ear. Will be back! Highly recommend!

The carnitas was perfect. The beans were perfect. The service was perfect. The fact that they had a cold case with about a dozen whole avocados was a happy thing. We reduced that number by two, as my wife and I each ordered a whole sliced "aguacate." The green tomatillo based salsa was not littered with cilantro. We're from St. Louis, but we visit Chicago frequently. We went to Sabas Vega just this once, but were very satisfied, and will return. The only downside was that at about 11:30 am on a Tuesday, the only meats they had were carnitas (of course), and chicharones (pork rinds). The carnitas were so excellent that this was fine with us, but if you're not a fan of pork, you might want to go elsewhere.

In my ipinion carnitas sabas is the best in chicago i been going to sabas since i was 10 yrs old and i'll continue to go. thank you.
