This is a good, trendy, Italian restaurant. It is not a gays-only establishment at all; I’m straight, and wasn’t the least bit threatened or intimidated. The food is very good, as is the wine selection. There are also plenty of spirits, but the beer is limited to the typical domestic, plus Sam Adams, Heineken, and some import, which they ran out of. As for the atmosphere, it has an eclectic, old-world feel with chandeliers, rock music, and not as many random pictures of Italians as you might expect. We went on a Friday night, so it was quite crowded, especially around the small bar area, and louder than I expected. It might be more intimate on a weekday night. The price range is also a bit higher than Metromix will have you believe: expect $11-$15 for pasta dishes and up to the low $20 for others. I would recommend it for a night out, but go elsewhere for an anniversary.

Great place! Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and stellar service. We've lived around the corner for years and only recently discovered this local treasure. We've never had anything less than a splendid time here and you can't beat the 25% off "Neighborhood Appreciation Night" on Wednesdays. Don't be discouraged by the fustions of curmudeonly reviewers (one dim-witted reviewer claims to have been there breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- they don't even open until 5:30pm!); this place is worth a visit. Take your sweetie and enjoy one of the most romantic and fulfilling dining experiences in Chicago.

Yes, it does look like a romantic oasis in the culinary desert of Lakeview. Unfortunately, I've never been so sick in my life after eating at this establishment. I will never eat there again and I would advise others to eat at your own risk.
