A friend and I stumbled on this palce last night after waiting in a long line at a restaurant across the street. To be honest I'd had my heart set on the first place, but the shrimp adobe dish I ordered at Punta Cana was so tasty I was glad the other place was full. I tried my friend's spicy mashed potatoes and they were excellent as well. I can't wait to try the fish next time. I also loved the owner, Johnny. He 's a great guy and a great story teller. Can't wiat to get back there.

The food, especially the fish, was really excellent. I recommend the snapper in coconut sauce and cod in garlic sauce. It is also a good value: for $14 you get a whole big red snapper with sides. BYOB corkage fee is $3. The wait for the food was a bit long but worth the wait since everything is very fresh. We will definitely go back for more seafood.

If you are in Chicago and in search for delicious/tasty Caribbean (especially Dominican) food, I strongly suggest that you visit Punta Cana Restaurant. Very tasty food ranging from spicy to mild, meat to fish and vegetables. In the background you can listen to caribbean music (bachata, merengue, salsa, bolero, and more). The whole atmosphere transports you to the Caribbean Islands. You can even watch videos from famous hispanic singers and bands, but again, the food is very tasty and affordable. The restaurant staff is also very friendly. I will go back for sure.
