i agreed, Nuevo Leon is the best thanks to my dad that worked for them and show them how to do bread, his name was Rosalio Rivera and i am pretty sure alot of people remember him he use to be el mero mero, nobody could make better then him.

I have been to dozens of bakeries and I have to say, no other place beats the quality and taste that Nuevo Leon has to offer. Not to mention my dad was the head baker for like 25 years if i remember correctly.

This place is wonderful. I've only lived in Chicago for a little more than a year and have been meaning to venture to Pilsen to find a good Mexican bakery. Nuevo Leon is it.

Their baked goods were surprisingly fresh for going so late in the day (around 4:00 p.m., since they open at 6:00 a.m.). I tried a little bit of everything, and it's all been awesome so far. This is a great place for churros especially.

Their prices are definitely reasonable. For what I got at $10, it could've easily been $15-20 elsewhere.

PLEASE NOTE...they do *not* accept credit/debit cards or checks. Bring cash if you plan on going.

It is also not necessary to know Spanish to conduct business here, although a working vocabulary of bakery and general retail words wouldn't hurt.

All in all, I give Nuevo Leon 5 stars!

With over 30 years of expertise in the business, not only does Nuevo Leon Bakery offer fresh, sweet Mexican bread everyday, BUT it also makes homemade style "tortillas de harina" every day! YUMMY! Panaderia Nuevo Leon, located in the heart of Pilsen and in the heart of the Mexican community, has served all these because of the quality of service and pastries it provides. AND will continue to do so for many more to come, "al estilo y con su sabor autenticamente NorteƱo"!! So if your looking for great tasting bread, tortillas, AND great service... Nuevo Leon Bakery is the place to go!
