i've always had pleasant experiences at debonair. there are rad videos that cover most walls upstairs, and downstairs is intimate and full of dark corners. ive had their pizza which was great to split with my girlfriends. its a cool place to chill earlier in the night and can really pick up pace at 1030 with dancing etc. all in all i love it.

I went to the Debonair on the night of New Years Eve. We paid $20 just to get in the door at about 1 a.m., and they were closing at 2. My boyfriend stood at the bar, which was not very busy, for nearly 20 minutes before receiving service. He ordered a Red Bull with Vodka; the drink was short and cost $9, which is pricey for this neighborhood. The bartender then proceeded to spill his drink as she was giving him back his receipt. She continued to help other customers and neglected to refill his drink. After several minutes, as she stood idly dancing and eating her pizza, I tapped her on the shoulder and said "Excuse me, can you refill this drink that you spilled?" She rolled her eyes at me, brushed me off with a hand gesture and walked away. Schocked, I said more loudly, "Excuse me!" and she flipped me off.

As you can imagine, we were furious and atempted to speak to a manager, which we were denied. Another bartender said she would "get" the manager, and she walked away and never returned. My boyfriend asked a bouncer, and he too would not let him speak to the club manager.

This incident ruined our evening, not to mention it was a total waste of $50. Plus, neither the music or the atmosphere were worth the cover charge. This is a great neighborhhood, and there are plenty of other bars and clubs worth going to. The pretentious factor at the Debonair is both high and unwarranted.
