I live in L.A. but I have to say that Chris's is the best pool hall in America. No music, no extras, just great pool. Great tables, cues, etc. It's dark. The absolute best!

First of all, Chris's Billiards isn't all that great. Thier customer service blows. Thier food isn't good at all. And someone on here said that thier table time is the cheapest in chicago...not true... nick's billiards is cheaper and they also have a snooker table too. I just think that everyone is overhyping the place up.

It's obvious that the last reviewer didn't bother to walk through the hall to see that there is a very large back room filled with tables. I was there 2 nights ago. I didn't count tables, but they had to have had at least 40 tables. There are more in the back hall than there are in the front hall. Also in regards to the food: a hot dog order was called out as I went by, so they do have some food available aside from the chips, and whatnot.

There are a lot of good players here, especially in the weekly 9-ball tournament. One of the best pool hall in Chicago. There's also more food than just what's offered at the snack bar - just look at the menu (may be an update from original description).
I occasionally attend the 9-ball tournament (handicapped) which takes place on Sunday night around 8pm. Players are really great and it's definitely the place to go if you're looking for a challenge.

I am not sure if Chris (the original owner) is still there---but, I would just like to state that he was the one who got me interested in pool a long time ago. He is simply a "Class Act," and if the rest of the pool world were like him, it would be more like the PGA.

There certainly are 41 tables. All full size, and the cheapest table time in the city.
Leo, the house cue doctor does a pretty good job as well.
Expect to see all sorts at Chris' billiards. Appearances by local pros like Marco Marquez, and International Pool Tour director Deno Andrews (3 cushion champion). The elderly gentlemen sleeping in their chairs between bets.
If you catch it on the right night, you may even get a glimpse of the world record holder for most balls sunk on a single shot. I believe he was up to 46 the last time I talked to him. If you see him in action, you'll know who it is. He shoots in the back room.

They also have a grill in that gynourmous snack bar...so you can get a bite to eat. I would recommend eating before you go. Great tables and great atmosphere.

There ARE 41 tables... did you notice that there are two other two rooms? Also, there's a snooker table- the only one I know of in Chicago.
