| Milwaukee-born blues/jazz guitarist died on March 16, 2002, after a battle with cancer. Higgins began playing professionally at the age of thirteen. Over the years, he labored behind some of the greatest blues guitarists (he played with Luther Allison, Jimi Hendrix, Little Milton Campbell, Albert King, B.B. King, Freddy King, Buddy Miles, and Al Jarreau), but occasionally stepped out on his own, as on King of the Gypsies (Angel Magic Music, 2002).
