The Decibators

The Decibators take their cues from sounds and styles, old and new, wrap it up, tear it apart and throw it back in your face! Straight-ahead punk rock and roll that pulls no punches. In the vein of bands like Riverboat Gamblers, The Bronx, and Icarus Line... Decibators take traditional punk and turn it on its head, spinning it with good ol' loud and proud rock, turn it up and bring it with a live show full of blast and energy.

In the summer of 2001, Eric Mahle (drums), Theo Hild (bass), Todd Uzel (guitar), and Kevin Brennan (vocals) started playing in what would become Decibators. Four musicians raised in scenes spreading from the East Coast, Chicago, Midwest to Texas pulled together members from the Chicago community of bands including The Winthropes, Kelly 18, Team Satan, Minim, The Blacks. With varied backgrounds, everyone brought their experience and ideas into the fray with the sound culminating into sheer power devoid of any pretense.

Early 2002 Decibators self-released a 3 song EP and a 7-inch on Roostercow Records, which garnered great press locally and nationally. In support, Decibators toured the East Coast and Midwest. The next year found Theo moving to guitar as Fritz Doreza of Muchacha and The Tarts fame took up the bass, new songwriting and an intense focus on live shows continued.

December 2003, Decibators entered the studio once again under the guidance of Jay Danderan and Mike Lust of Lustre King fame to record 4 new songs. These songs were previewed on Garageband.com resulting in over 200 positive reviews and went on to be Punkšs featured artist of the day for Jan 29th 2004.

With the start of 2004, Decibators released their second E.P., toured throughout the Midwest and hit the road for a two week tour through 10 states over 16 days. The spring tour was a success, selling out the first pressing of the "Whiskey" E.P. and completely burning through their Roostercow Records 7-inch, leaving the band with an empty merch box. Decibators did a second pressing of "Whiskey" and released a short run of "Live In Chicago" cds to coincide with the fall East Coast tour in September and October.

2005 Decibators began with five new songs and the search for a new van. Studio time is booked and the new "rock bus" is getting tuned up to hit the road. The year commences and the promo machine is at full tilt with dates across the Midwest and an West Coast in the works.
