| One of the most celebrated conductors of our time, Sir Andrew Davis is the new music director of the Lyric Opera of Chicago as of September 2000. He has appeared regularly with the world's other major opera houses, including La Scala, The Metropolitan, Paris, Munich, and the Royal Opera House/Covent Garden, and headed the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony. "Davis is a great musician who brings freshness and ardor to everything he does," says The Times, London. The Independent on Sunday calls him "a man who seems able to put his hand to anything and make a sensitive, committed, rhythmically incisive triumph of it."
