| Qwel, best known for his work with the Typical Cats, has done a good job of maintaining his identity in the constantly evolving Chicago hip-hop scene. His true-to-self mentality can be attributed to his strong work ethic and constant output of quality albums, including his latest effort, The New Wine. This album is one in a four-part series that focuses on society's flaws through the biblical perspective of the third horseman of the apocalypse. The new sound features production work from jungle/hip-hop aficionado Kip Killagain, and together the duo explores the effects that live violins, heavy basslines and whimsical harmonies has on Qwel's ability to rap on abstract levels. It's another step forward for the Galapagos 4 camp, and it should intrigue fans enough into picking up on the previous albums in the series: The Harvest produced by Maker and Freezerburner, produced by Meaty Ogre.
