Born in Chicago on March 14, 1933, this composer, arranger, and bandleader, is known for many things in the movie and music industry. He was Michael Jackson's long time producer, and has composed songs for some Hollywood's biggest movies, which include: The Getaway, The Color Purple, the Austin Power movies, and more reccently volumes 1 and 2 of Kill Bill. Aside from movies, he's composed the theme song to tv shows such as Sanford and Son, Root mini-series, and In the Heat of the Night.
