Local duo (the label "robot concept band" is pretty accurate) recently signed a multi-album deal with with Almo Records (reportedly for $2.5 million!). The Trumfio brothers' were heavily influenced by new wave and euro pop (as Chicago Reader's Monica Kendrick says "Dave Trumfio has never been one to hide the Cure records when company comes over: no matter how much indie machismo gets splattered on the walls at his Kingsize Studios, he and his brother Harry have kept their roots in the fey futuristic pop of the recent past.") Guitarist and singer Dave Trumfio records bands at Kingsize Studios. Their first 7" EP "Teenage Nites" (on Sweet Pea Records) has been followed by an EP and album, both on Almo. The album features trumpet by Herb Alpert and string arrangements by Tony Visconti! They also appear in Scott Petersen's documentary Out of the Loop, a film which explores the Chicago indie rock scene. Plus, they've contributed a nifty cover of Squeeze's "Cool For Cats" to Q101's Local 101 compilation.
