| Beat-driven, mostly instrumental electronic ambient music. Dark beats, industrial strength basslines and dirty piano samples make up most of what you'll hear - in addition to guitars, vocals and collaborations with other artists. The project is based in Chicago.
The founder and only member of Nontourist is Andy Kamm, who writes and produces the material. A Michigan native, Kamm moved to Chicago with now defunct power-pop quartet ExtraVery in 1996. After the band's brief stint on Warner Bros Records, he left his position as bassist in late 1999 to pursue other endeavors such as the emo-pop group Carbonfour, where he acted as a songwriter and guitarist. During this time work on demos for Nontourist began. In 2002, Kamm left Carbonfour and Nontourist officially became his main agenda.
