Mos Isley

Mos Isley claims to rely upon the principle that "music is a force that can stir any emotion within us to the surface." The group's new (and only) CD, Self-Titled Debut, released Dec. 12, 2000, does a fair job of touching on that idea. With varied interests and influences that range from rock to afro-cuban to blues, Mos Isley blends improvisation and composition in the fused tradition of 60's psychedelic and modern rock bands.

The Chicago-based group's sound is a powerful one, due in part to the strong keys and a sound that confidently switches from jammy to rock with a heavy does of funk tossed in. The band's Tuesday night gig at The Boulevard Cafe in Logan Square is a sure-hit for anyone enjoying a modern take on a classic theme.

Mos Isley is Ricky Canning (guitar, vox), Tom Miller (drums, vox), Jason Slade (keyboards, vox) and Brian Kallies (bass, vox).
