| Senegalese musician stranded in Chicago during an abortive American tour has made this city his home. The 40 year-old musician, a member of the musical cast called jalis, who played exclusively for kings of Western Africa, he now performs the kora, a twenty-some string African instrument made from a huge hollow gourd and cowhide at Mama Desta's Red Sea Ethiopan Restauran, as well as museums and other places around the US. Kouyate, who is applying for American citizenship, hopes to make his first visit back to Senegal sometime next year.
