| An accomplished flutist, Martha Councell has performed throughout the U.S. and in Central America. She has earned numerous awards and accolades, including second place winner of the 2000 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition in Columbus, Ohio and second place in the National Flute Talk competition in 1997, held at Northwestern University. She has also earned first prize in the Central Ohio Flute Association Competition (1996), second place in the Albuquerque Flute Association's Frank Bowen Competition (1996), and first prize in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition (1993).
