Chicago native trombonist joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1962, and was appointed principal trombonist two years later. He studied at Roosevelt University, spent two years with the Florida Symphony and four with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago before joining the CSO. Since 1995, he's been the music director of the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest, and has conducted the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra, and a number of other ensembles.
He has led orchestral seminars with the Danish Radio Orchestra, Stockholm Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony, Oslo Opera, and Helsingborg Symphony. His articles on conducting and orchestral style have been published by Instrumentalist magazine.
