Neo just is. This club has been here forever, and to Chicago natives, it's a legend. Having first opened its doors in 1979, the club has passed from oddity to fixture and back to oddity, thanks to the parade of goths waiting to go inside in the alley outside the place in the otherwise yuppified Lincoln Park.
That goth scene pervades the club inside as well -- from the black-clad and pale-faced people to the gothic arches lining the dance floor to the industrial music pumping loudly, and we mean loudly, through the speakers. Ironically, it's those who dress conservatively that tend to stand out here.
Specials at Neo vary from night to night. Many say Thursdays are one of the better nights for drinking and dancing, and others argue that Sunday is the night to be there for the weekly 'Sanctuary' event, with drinks specials like $1 pints of PBR and $2 well drinks.
