Despite having one of the most coveted sports bar locations in the country (kitty-cornered to the infamous red Wrigley Field sign), the Cubby Bear isn't a sports bar in the conventional sense. Sure there's some Cubs memorabilia hanging on the walls, but the Cubby Bear is too multi-purpose for its own good. With six bars and 30,000 square feet spread out over different levels, this bar turns into a lackluster pre-game tourist trap, accentuated by the fact that it has its own gift shop.
After the game, however, it's a different story. The Cubby Bear becomes a cheesy dance club for about two hours post-game. It's a fun, often hilarious scene as fans wilted by an afternoon of sun and drinking attempt to dance to '80s and '90s tunes. There's a late-night Euro discotheque vibe, complete with bad pick-up lines, sloppy dancing and people way too pumped up for forgettable songs. The only difference is that it's still bright outside.
