Editorial Review of Quimby's boasts that the unique bookstore has been "making other bookstores look retarded since 1991." While that may be a little harsh, Quimby's has certainly been adding a distinct flavor to the Chicago literary sales scene since it opened in 1991.

A local legend, Quimby's has all the charm of a neighborhood bookstore with all the kink of the neighborhood it's in. Reading material includes independently produced publications, including zines, kitschy books and vibrant sex-related titles (everything from erotica to how-to guides, many of which are also available online for shy shoppers). The bookstore is also a favorite stop for book signings and readings with local authors, artists, and publishers in town promoting their work.
