Everyone has a different motivation for going to the gym. For some it's a few hours out of the house; others want to lounge by the juice bar and show off their latest workout outfit; and, oh yeah, some actually want to work up a sweat. No matter your motivation (or lack there of), you'll find everything you need at XSport Fitness.
Open 24 hours, seven days a week, each of Chicago's XSport are a bit different, but all help you achieve your fitness goals. The massive spaces hold everything from cardio machines, hundreds of weights and workout studios to a two-story rock climbing wall, full basketball court and swimming pool. It can be overwhelming at first sight, but don't worry: XSport's full staff of personal trainers can walk you through the equipment and design a workout just for you. Of course, the trainers come with a price, but new members get one trial session for free.
However, if you're more about the gym scene, you'll still find plenty. In addition to many of the gym's juice bar, you'll find perks like free Internet access, a fully equipped spa, tanning rooms and a fairly luxurious locker room. You can also shop in the Pro Shop, which sells Nike, Puma and Under Armor brands, or stock-up at the Supplement Shop. And don't feel guilty about dragging the kids along. Some XSports offer professional daycare service that offers the little tykes their own climbing wall as well as Super Nintendo.
XSport's class schedule includes everything you might expect at a gym, plus a few workouts you may not. In addition to the standard step, spin, strength and flexibility classes, you'll find belly dancing, water aerobics and something called Nia (Neuromuscular Integrative Action), based on the concept that there is a "dancer, martial artist and a highly aware person within you." Apparently it will set that person free. Speaking of free, all XSport classes are included with membership.
The locker room itself is a major plus: it includes tons of lockers (bring your own lock), individual showers with shampoo and conditioner, hairdryers, television sets and plenty of vanities and counter space to prep yourself before leaving.
