What to expect: Friendly crowds, healthy competition and fun for the whole family.
Why to go: There's a reason this is a Chicagoland favorite after more than 30 years. Great organizers, historic race scenery, and an all-inclusive vibe mark this fun event. There's something for everyone: kids can bring their stuffed animals in for a check-up at the Teddy Bear Clinic while ambitious adults consider how to beat Tom Fitzpatrick's long-standing 10K course record.
More information: The day features 5K and 10K Races, a 5K Competitive Walk and a 1 Mile Youth Run. Runners and walkers can register on the day of the race starting at 6:30 a.m. Want to jump the gun? You can register online, too. The top three men and women in each event will receive awards. The races are followed by a colorful parade, along with raffles, refreshments and other entertainment.
