Date: May 2, 2009
Cost: Free
Organizer: City of Chicago
What to expect: Kites, kids and, well...you can guess the rest.
Why to go: In addition to being able to create, decorate and fly kites, kids will love the new big kite candy drop, which happens twice during the festival.
Additional info: The event takes place at Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park. Free kite kits will be provided by the City of Chicago, though you're welcome to bring a favorite flying friend of your own. There will also be face painting, strolling entertainment, storytelling and crafts, including the popular Plaster of Paradise, where kids can decorate a refrigerator magnet shaped like a kite.
