Date: April 10, 2010
Cost: $25-$45
Organizer: The Heartland Tattoo
What to expect: A musical exhibition of marching bands, bagpipes, singers, dancers and more, celebrating traditional Scottish and Irish music. The main event takes place at 7 p.m. at the Sears Centre, though there will be a parade (10 a.m., Hassell Road to Hoffman Estates Village Hall) celebrating both Tartan Day and the 50th Anniversary of Hoffman Estates, and a "Celebration of Nations" (noon-2 p.m., Hoffman Estates Village Hall).
Why to go: You may never get to see the original Tattoo in Edinburgh, and this is the next best thing.
