Why to go: Free beer! Well, at least for the first twenty minutes or so until the ceremonial keg runs out.
Additional info: Dance to the traditional German music with the mix of locals and college kids. When you get tired, try out the food and drink -- beer for $5-8 (with refills for $4-7) and Bratwurst and Thueringer sandwiches with sauerkraut or potato salad for $5. There will also be the annual Von Steuben parade on Saturday (beginning at 2 p.m. at Lincoln and Irving Park).
