Description of Chicago International Movies and Music Festival

Date: March 4-7, 2010

Cost: $10 per event, $30 for a movie pass, $40 for a festival pass

What to expect: Four days of special music and film events at multiple locations around town.

Why to go: Highlights include a retrospective of experimental filmmaker Marie Losier's work, performances from DJ Spooky (March 7 at Lincoln Hall), Robyn Hitchcock (March 5 at Schubas), Jon Langford (March 6 at Schubas), Grant Hart (Husker Du drummer, March 5 at St. Paul's Cultural Center) and many films. Additional info: The Opening Night Party will take place on Thursday, March 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. ($20), with Chicago premiere screenings of "Universalove" and "William S. Burroughs: A Man Within" plus performances by Thee Majesty and Penny Arcade. The Closing Night Party (Sunday, March 7, at Lincoln Hall, 7 p.m.; $20) will feature DJ Spooky performing a conceptual mashup of "Video Soul: Wattstax to the Avant Garde."
